Humber yawl Flute for sale

Humber yawl Flute for sale

Flute, a lovely yawl inspired by George Holmes’s Eel is said to be in fine condition and is for sale following an accident sustained by the owner.

She’s LOA 21ft (27ft over spars), beam 7ft, draught 3.5 ft.

She was built in 1978 by Ian Cooper at Waterhead, Windermere, of local larch on oak with clear pine spars, and was extensively rebuilt by Jamie Clay during 2000/01.

She sleeps 2 in a newly varnished and painted cabin. Her rigging is as new and FLUTE is ready to move on its purpose built trailer in North Yorkshire.

See the Canoeyawl weblog for details.

A slightly extended version of Maurice Griffiths famous plywood design built using the strip planking technique.

And, I think, it looks all the better for the extra length. The plans for the Eventide are available here.
