An appeal for recent photos of Spindrift

William Miller has been in touch to ask whether anyone has recent photos of the very striking fishing vessel Spindrift, which his father bought from Lossiemouth in 1947 (it was then name Rose). The splendid photos above are from William’s family collection.

If you have any shots from recent years, please send them to me at gmatkin@gmail.com and I’ll forward them to William.

Spindrift was sold by the Wick-based Miller family in 1975.

See some earlier photos her from 2009.

Project whaler for sale, North Wales

Fancy a project , 25′ whaler?

There’s one lying at Gwynedd in North Wales, and it’s for sale. It has been in the Harlech family for many years and used to be moored on the Ynys opposite the village of Portmeirion.

It has been dry stored for quite a few years now. The seller, Mark Brookes, says that he has lots of gear to go with it including spars and a Seagull outboard. Mark is at brookesmark@hotmail.co.uk
