These smashing photographs were the shortlist for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s recent My Coast photo competition. Voting via the RNLI’s Facebook page decided the winning shot should be Alex Wilkinson’s shot RNLI Lookout (image 16), taken at Scarborough lifeboat station.
The others are Stephanie Francis Woolacombe Bay Reflections (25), Mike Honour 7am Praa Sands (37), Neil Murphy Moels Calm before (41), Philip Hobbs A quiet moment (48), Josh Cooper Tide and time (72), Thomas Glasby (from lifeboat station) Queensferry crew’s lookout (76), Jonny Royale My apocalypse (96), Donald McClymont Dunstanburgh’s dramatic sunrise (97), Jack Lancaster Sennen seas (105).
The My Coast photography competition sponsored by Epson was launched in September last year; photographers were asked to capture what the coasts of UK and Ireland meant to them.
It coincided with the launch of the Courage on our Coasts photography book and exhibition, which toured the country and showcased the photography of volunteer lifeboat crew member and professional photographer Nigel Millard.
