Land sailing was a big sport in germany before the war, especially in North friesland and East Prussia. In winter they put sledges under the machines and did it on ice. After the collapse of the East Bloc and with the first tourists flocking in the area know part of Poland it started again, the Masurian Lakes now a centre of the sport.
